Experience...

As a Board Certified Physician Assistant, who has been practicing in dermatology for over 20 years, I am highly trained and experienced in both medical and cosmetic areas of dermatology.  In my career, I have specialized in cosmetic procedures including multiple types of laser and lights such as:  CO2, erbium, Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers, radio-frequency devices and IPL for skin rejuvenation.  I have been injecting Botox (and other neurotoxins) and fillers since 1999 - treating thousands of patients over those years.  I have made it a point to stay at the forefront of current and cutting edge technology, maintaining a deep and broad experience base during my years of practice.  My fascination, coupled with my dedication to give each patient the individualized and personalized attention they deserve, drives me to stay educated and forward-thinking with the use of each product and procedure.  The practice of working with cosmetic injectables specifically is an art form I have been proudly perfecting, enhancing and mastering through my career.  The human face is a fascinating work of art to me.

In the area of medical dermatology, I have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancers (both surgically and non-surgically), rashes, acne and other skin issues ranging from minor to advanced conditions.  I have also brought my clinical knowledge to the academic arena having lectured on general dermatology topics and teaching surgery/suture techniques at medical conferences for the both the Washington School of Nursing and the Washington State Academy of Physician Assistants.

Why Dermatology?

For as long as I can remember, the human body and how it works has always been a fascination of mine.  My specific interest in dermatology all started in elementary school with my science fair project, when I decided to test the validity of SPF in sunscreens.  Were all these lotions and creams really working?  I turned my house into an official testing lab, with my dad as the unwitting volunteer.  I placed different levels of SPF sunscreen on his forearm, then used my neighbors tanning lamp (yes, tanning lamp!) to see if the SPF could keep the burning rays away.  I was thrilled to find out that the SPF levels DID make a difference!  Some protected his skin and others left burns that left scars for over a year!   This early curiosity began my journey into this fascinating field that I love and am fortunate to work in today.
